Placement Information
Two Wells is a very friendly country town with an approximate population of 2,500 people plus approximately 2,500 in surrounding districts.
Two Wells Medical Clinic hosts medical students from both Adelaide University and Flinders University and we hope that you learn a lot while you are here in our small rural practice. We have a Physiotherapist and Psychologist who consult from our clinic and may also be able to assist in your learning during your time here.
Come prepared with your learning plan and we will do our best to find volunteers for students, but occasionally patients are not comfortable with students being present in their consultations. Practice Nurses are available to show you procedures such as vaccinations, ECGs, dressings and blood tests. The Doctor usually starts students off with joint consultations and as sessions progress you will have the opportunity to sit in the chair and present to him, depending upon your level of competency.
Our consulting times are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm or thereabouts depending on emergencies and urgent cases, and being a solo GP the Doctor is on call 24/7. Mondays are later consultation nights with a later after hours session.
If travel and distance is a problem, there are a few options available. Obviously you can travel to the clinic every day, and it normally takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes to travel from the city depending on traffic.
There is accommodation available for medical students well within walking distance from the clinic and the main street. Please let us know which option you decide upon so we can prepare accordingly.
We hope you enjoy your time here at Two Wells Medical Clinic!
