Consultation is by appointment. Urgent cases will be seen on the day.
To make an appointment please call (08) 8520 2411.
How long are appointment times?
The standard appointment length is 15 minutes, a long appointment is 30 minutes.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment time so we can record your details and past medical history. Please bring your Medicare Card and any Concession Cards to this visit and any following appointments.
What to consider when making an appointment
It is important to give some consideration to how long the doctor might need in order to help you as there are some medical problems that are suited to a standard appointment time of 15 minutes, whilst others require a more thorough assessment and management plan and so require a longer appointment.
Whilst we aim at providing value for money in each consultation, we must balance the length of the consult with providing high level care. In general, high level care can take a little bit longer.
What types of conditions might require a long appointment
- A complex set of symptoms or condition
- If you wish to have a detailed discussion on a medical condition
- Requesting a detailed health check
- For females, as full sexual health check up and cervical screening
- Multiple problems that need attending to
- Counselling or therapy
What about home visits?
Home visits may be arranged for patients of this practice that are unable to come to the surgery. This needs to be organised with the Doctor’s approval either the day prior or first thing in the morning.
What if I am unsure how long I need?
We can always start with a standard appointment and if more time is needed we can make another appointment to continue the consult at another time.
Why can’t the doctor sort out all of my medical problems in one visit?
Sometimes the time required to attend to a list of problems will be longer then the allocated appointment time. In this instance, we often ask our patients to return on another day to continue consulting on the other issues.
Can I cancel an appointment?
Yes, you can rearrange or cancel an appointment. We ask that you provide more than 24 hours notice of any change. If you miss an appointment without prior notice a fee may be charged.
Billing Arrangements
There is no gap to pay if you have a Centrelink Health Care or Pension, Veterans Affairs card or if you are under 16.
Private patients will pay a gap beyond their Medicare refund. This varies according to the complexity of service or if a procedure is performed.
Payment for the whole bill will be required to be paid at the time of consult. This can be paid by cash or EFTPOS. If you have your EFTPOS card at the time of your consult, your Medicare rebate can be then transferred straight into your account by simply swiping your EFTPOS card, or else Medicare will deposit the rebate into your bank account if you have notified them of your details.
A small fee may be charged for procedures to cover costs.
If you would like an indication of fees please call (08) 8520 2411 or the fee sheet is available in the clinic.
Telephoning Your Doctor
Although most problems are best dealt with in consultation, the Doctor will be available during normal surgery hours for emergency advice. Our staff are experienced in helping you decide whether the matter requires an appointment, a return phone call from the practice, or urgent advice. We do not communicate with patients over email.
